If you’ve been looking to learn more about assisted living communities and senior living near you, you’ve come to the right place. This blog is intended to help seniors citizens live happy and fulfilling lives, as well as to provide a source for information about assisted living communities and senior living as a whole.

Seeing as how our first post is occurring in the heart of spring, we figured we’d take this opportunity to review some of the best springtime activities for seniors. So without further ado, here are seven great things seniors can do during the spring.

  1. Go Fishing: Nothing is more relaxing than some fishing in a serene environment, surrounded by nature. Take time to crack out the ol’ fishing poles and venture to a fishing spot that is accessible for your level of mobility.
  2. Go on a Picnic: Eating outdoors in the springtime is a lovely experience. Going on a picnic with a loved one can make it even better. While you’re enjoying nature and some delicious food you can also participate in activities such as bird watching or reading.
  3. Take a Walk: Finding a local park or nature trail to take walks in is a great idea in the spring. Just as the flowers are blooming and the birds are starting to chirp is a great time to take a stroll and appreciate all of nature’s beauty.
  4. Enjoy Outdoor Attractions: When the weather is warmer and nicer, it provides more opportunity to partake in outdoor attractions such as sporting events, monuments, swap meets and more.
  5. Spring Cleaning: Nothing wrong with doing a little spring cleaning after a long winter. This can help create a more comfortable living atmosphere and allows you to decorate for the spring.
  6. Plant a Garden: Gardening is one of the most fulfilling activities any senior can do. It helps get you outdoors, produces beautiful landscapes, and promotes healthy eating.
  7. Visit a Farmers Market: Farmers markets are abundant during the spring and summer and have some of the best local fruits and vegetables money can buy. Eating these organic foods can be a healthier choice for seniors and getting some fresh air to visit these markets is also a plus.
